Education
Kelly Shanafelt graduated from the Curtis Institute of Music as a student of Joseph dePasquale and studied at University of Washington with Yizhak Schotten. At the Blossom and Encore festivals she studied with Robert Vernon.
Composition and Performance
Kelly has performed at the Cabrillo, Moab, Kapalua, Crested Butte, Lake Winnepesaukee, and Colorado Music Festivals. She has been a member of the Colorado Symphony since 1991, and plays with the Linden String Quartet and the Lyric Ensemble. A former member of the Honolulu Symphony, Kelly has also played in the Galliard String Quartet.
Denver-area musicians have called upon Kelly to record for many alternative and original music CDs, including Serefe, Mary Youngblood, and her husband, songwriter Bob Story.
Kelly also teaches in Boulder, Colorado.
